Understanding The Difference Between Motel And Hotel Real Estate Property

Understanding The Difference Between Motel And Hotel Real Estate Property
You might have thought about investing in motels for sale in your life. However, most people don’t know the difference between motels and hotels. Some use the names interchangeably. When you are traveling and far from home, you will need a place to stay. There are numerous options – bed and breakfasts, hotels, campgrounds, etc. but for most travelers, their cornice comes down to two main types of accommodation – motels and hotels. Each of these types of accommodation services has its purpose and has its price. The one that is better for you depends on your needs, how much you wish to spend and how long you will be there.
Definition of a hotel
A hotel comes from a French word for a business establishment that provides meals, lodging services and other services.
Definition of a motel
A motel on the other hand came along later after the hotel. It comes from the words motor and hotel. It is meant to describe a business establishment that provides some services associated with a hotel but not necessarily all the services provided by a hotel. Motels started as inns along the first major motorways. They offered rest to exhausted families on vacation and explores.
Motels and hotels differ in construction and layout. Hotels can have hundreds of several floors and rooms. They generally have elevators, staircases and internal corridors leading to rooms. On the other hand, motels for sale online have one or two floors and guests can access their rooms from the parking lot directly. Some hotels exhibit specific styles of design and architecture.
Motels and hotels employ different types of employees. Hotels might have concierges that offer dictions and advice to local sites, bellhops that carry luggage to guest rooms and so on. They might also employ housekeepers, chefs, doormen, parking valets and elevator operators. One or several managers might be on duty to supervise workers and help solve various problems. On the other hand, motels employ a comparatively small number of employees, typically housekeepers and receptionists. Small motels might have receptionists who perform laundry and housekeeping duties.
Generally, hotels offer a wider range of services compared to motels. These might include an on-site restaurant, room service, and cocktail lounge, on-site recreation and relaxation, laundry, exercise equipment, masseuse services and hot tubs. Some hotels may double as resorts, offering extensive entertainment options to their guests such as theaters and casinos. Motels offer fewer services but some motels have breakfast and swimming pools.
Other differences
Hotels and motels for sale also differ in price and the duration of stay. Accommodation in hotels cost more than motels, though the location is a key consideration. A four-star hotel in a small city might cost less than a smaller motel in a more expensive area. There are a lot of things that affect the pricing of both hotels and motels. Some of these factors include the services offered, the location of the property, the duration of stay, competition in the area and more.

Theory: Oceanview Motel & Casino

Discovered after Butte AWE in 1992, The Motel is a Place of Power in several ways similar to the Oldest House, used as a gateway across space and dimensions. It doesn't create seamlessly connected thresholds, but rather transports a person across dimensions. Connections to various dimensions seem to be fixed, though the exact place can change. And we have learned in AWE DLC that new connections can be added, as the spiral door appeared in 2019, likely as a part of Alan Wake's failed attempts to contact the FBC and warn them about the Dark Presence. The only known method of getting into the Motel is using the Light Switch Cord. FBC agents also use it to get out of the Motel. Attempts to exit or enter any other way were unsuccessful.
From the current lore, we know that the Motel has fixed connections to the Dark Place (spiral), the Oldest House (black pyramid) and the Quarry/Foundation dimension (Janitor). It connects to other places as well, but we do not have much lore on those. The white pyramid is seen in the Foundation symbol), The Doors symbol is most likely seen in the director's office, the Vanguard symbol is already referenced within collectibles in AWE DLC and is tied to an experimental multiplayer title Remedy is working on. And the final symbol is supposed to be significant for Control 2.
By the way if you're not sure where I'm getting this, here are the names of the symbols as described within the files of the game.
As for the unopened numbered rooms, you have someone being tortured and murdered in room 223 and in another instances someone is laughing in that same room. This suggests that the Motel does indeed connect to other motels, just as Emily Pope speculates, even if perhaps through this one room. Emily also tells us about a person who was found dead inside the Motel, trying to get food from the vending machine. You can actually die in the Motel, it's not just a place inside your mind.
As I've mentioned in other posts, we have absolutely nothing on the Casino door.
Emily suggested that people could be hiding in the Motel during the Hiss crisis, even though you've obviously been there and haven't met anyone. This suggests that the Motel has multiple channels and you could end up travelling into any one of them. This is further supported by the version of the Motel where it's night outside.
We also have collectibles in AWE DLC, suggesting that the FBC isn't the only one using the Motel, as their surveillance has observed unknown people in the motel.
Where exactly is it?
The FBC is still looking for a physical location of the Motel. It's almost certain that the Motel is a real place that's in (or connected to) our world, and it's almost certain that you can actually get to it. The fuel for this speculation is the fact that we've heard people outside the motel. Based on their conversation there's another motel not very far from it.
My theory, in-line with current lore, is that somewhere in USA, there is a pocket dimension which can only be accessed under specific circumstances (like in a car of specific colour with specific contents in the trunk, during a specific time of the day while it's sunny). Due to how it's threshold works, people could travel in and out of the dimension without even being aware of it. It could also be that the Motel is always there, but only appears to people under specific circumstances, just like the Oldest House or Cauldron Lake Cabin. However, that would make the unchanging lighting conditions outside difficult to explain, which is why I like the pocket dimension theory better, as it takes care of that detail.

How does it do what it does and what does it actually do?
I always advocated a theory that the Motel was created using the powers of the Dark Place. After AWE DLC, and my speculation about the method of entry which I'm going touch later, I'm almost sure this is supposed to be the case.
First big clue is the sound cue when you complete a ritual. Not only is it awfully similar to the sound cue you get in Alan Wake when you complete a ritual to alter reality, what the narrator says in Alan Wake could easily be the narration for what Jesse does in the motel. And of course, we can't omit that these noises, although a lot more intense, are similar to the the noises made by control points in the Oldest House, which suggests that whatever is happening, it's related to the resonance of the reality.

It's right there on the sign. \"Agent must orient and anchor motel to their personal frequencies\"
You have three rooms for rituals to create one passage. When you compare it to Alan Wake's manuscripts, you'll notice that most of the time, there are three things that must happen before an outcome is created and reality is altered. Through the rituals and pulls of the light switch, you are altering the reality of the Motel and sometimes even our own. The way to look at it is that there are two realities - our own, and the one in the work of art. The three rituals align the resonance of our reality to the fictional one and they become one and the same. And the work of art containing the new reality in this case is the painting in the room.
It's important to note that the motel doesn't just transport you around. In fact, on some occasions it returns you to the same spot, but something about the reality has changed - for example a bridge in the firebreak was added.
Debate in the comments also reminded me about the topic of how exactly the mechanism of the motel works, that is, why are the light switch cords placed where they are, and how does the motel know where to transport you. As interesting as this topic is, these are questions that are probably impossible to answer. All we know is that after FBC discovered the first light switch cord and the Motel itself, more cords started appearing across the Oldest House.
In one instance Ahti makes a light switch cord appear for Jesse, which gives a lot of credibility to the assumption that he positioned the cords across the Oldest House, which would further support my theory that he serves as a doorman/gatekeeper in the Oldest House and using new theories to support my old ones is always nice :P At the same time, we can't rule out that Trench could have known how to work with them and use them as a security measure. The Board could also be involved, but they never even mention the Motel or the cord, so there isn't much to go on.
It would also be interesting to know whether the motel somehow knows where you want/need to go, or whether it has to be set up in advance somehow. But this topic is never even touched. The first agents who entered the motel didn't enter with the intention to get to the Oldest House, but they managed find their way there, so there's good enough reason to think the Motel can adjust automatically on the fly based on the desires of those inside. Purely subjectively, I like this narrative better.
And finally, let's talk about the light switch. Whoever created the motel used a light switch as a mode of entry. This switch changes the light and has the power to alter reality on it's own to some extent. This isn't a new concept. Alan Wake has a light switch called The Clicker which is an altered item created via the Dark Place. Aside from being able to destroy the possessed body of Barbara Jagger, it was able to instantly switch between night and day. Thomas Zane has a light switch of his own, which he possibly used to save Samantha Wells from Taken who were attacking her house. The exact function of this switch is not known. So... we have THREE light switches in total. If they all were the result someone's story, it would make for a rather neat consistency. All in all, it's possible to speculate that the Motel is the work of another artist like Wake or Zane.
At the end of the game, when Jesse is transported from her dream, I'm not sure whether that's supposed to be Jesse's own channel of the Motel, just like Alan has the version where it's night, or whether it's a representation of it in her own mind. It's easy to miss but this version of the motel has different posters on the walls and all of them revolve around one constant Jesse and her life.
As a bit of a trivia, an inspiration for the Motel seems to be the TV series Lost Room. It's dated but a really good mystery that could easily be made related to Control, revolving around a place of power and altered items.

Doors inside Oceanview motel & casino

I’m not sure if this has been discussed before, but I have a theory about the doors inside the Oceanview motel, and the Remedy Verse as a whole.
There are three main games that Remedy has connected in one way or another. Quantum Break, Alan Wake, and Control. Max Payne, although we all know Alex Casey is him, the games have no connection to the rest of the Remedy verse.
The doors come in pairs for each respective game, and in one form or another the Oceanview connects to each games universe.
The first two doors are Alan Wake, as both symbols have been attributed to Alan Wake, with the spiral being part of the Alan Wake/Control DLC, and the other symbol getting a mention along Alan Wake as recently as in Quantum Break on the University’s blackboard.
The Pyramids are Controls doors, the inverted black, and upright white pyramids allude to the dual nature of forces in Control.
And lastly the last two doors connect to Quantum Breaks universe. Both shapes have been used as visual aids/effects in the game, and in the cgi/live action sequences.
I would also imagine that the “Dark Man” Dylan dreamt of, his dreams actually being other realities and not really dreams, Mr. Door is Martin Hatch, the shifter from Quantum Break that is present in every single reality there is and is able to shift through all of them at any time, and simultaneously. And my evidence for this is based on the Synchronicity lab within the Oldest House, and the definition of things happen simultaneously, at the same time are as follows; occurring at the same time; coinciding in time;
contemporaneous; simultaneous. going on at the same rate and exactly together; recurring together. ... of, relating to, or operating using fixed-time intervals controlled by a clock.
The clocks in that definition even have their very own threshold in Control. Remedy is leaving a breadcrumb trail all over the place. And this is the style that Sam Lake likes to work in. Everything working on a strong side by side, at the same time.
Thoughts? Am I missing anything, or can you add to this theory?
Edit: In Athi’s Sankarin Tango, “the hero’s song”, he sings of events from all three games, proving they’re all connected. He starts with Alan Wake, then Quantum Break, and then Control.
Once translated its makes perfect sense. It’s very clear that Remedy is making Alan Wake the connective tissue of it all, but just like Marvel... It’s all connected.

Cheap Las Vegas rooms June 2015

Going to Vegas June 7-10. Looking for a cheap hotel. Circus Circus was cool at $33 a night but now they are charging a $16 resort fee on top of that. Looking for something crazy low. Any suggestions of a decent casino motel.

The Oceanview Motel & Casino is the creepiest part of the game for me

There are a lot of weird and creepy things in this game, but everytime I had to go through the Oceanview Motel I had chills down my spine.
I had this sense of dread while walking there. And it got even worse later, when the rooms started to get really weird, when I heard people talking outside of the hotel, when I heard screams and noticed blood under one of the doors you can't open or when the Clog decided to rent a room.

I think I feel this way because the motel looks normal but you know that there's something wrong. Something that is far from normal.
What do you think? Am I the only one who felt like that?

A series of trips to Las Vegas by September 11 hijackers became the object of the largest investigation in the city. The reason behind these trips remains a mystery.

On September 11 of 2001, 19 men hijacked four planes and crashed them into the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and into an open field in Shanksville PA. These men were al-Qaeda terrorists doing the deeds in the name of a holy war against the West and not much about the attack remains a mystery unless you subscribe to the inside job theory, which isn't my case. What authorities haven't been able to explain is the hijackers' several trips to Las Vegas despite what has been dubbed to be the broadest investigation in city. All these trips happened within a few months before the attacks, but the men behind them left very little evidence of their activities in the area.
May 24 - Marwan Al-Shehhi, the pilot who crashed the United Airlines Flight 175 into the South Towers of the WTC, arrived to Las Vegas from San Francisco and rented a room at Travelodge as a walk in customer. Once there, he called eight other motels.
May 25 - Al-Shehhi walked in the St. Luis Manor, a hotel that wasn't on the call list. At 12:52 pm, he rented a different car, but didn't return the first car until 3:58pm. The unaccounted mileage in both vehicles summed up to 29 miles. FBI believes that these unusual patterns were a conscious attempt to avoid detection.
May 27 - Al-Shehhi made it to New York.
June 7 - Ziad Jarrah, pilot of the United Airlines 93 that crashed in Shanskville while on its way to the Capitol Building, arrived to Las Vegas and rented a car at 3:13 pm. He was accompanied by an unidentified man described as "middle eastern looking". When Jarrah asked for directions to Circus Circus Hotel and Casino, the a rent-a-car employee tried to give him an answer but was interrupted by the unidentified man who suggested another route. The man's knowledge of the address suggests that he was familiar with the area or that he had been in Las Vegas before.
June 10 - Jarrah took a flight to the Baltimore Washington International Airport leaving his rented car with a mileage exceeding 200 miles and no trace of his Las Vegas whereabouts .
June 28 - Mohamed Atta, pilot of American Airlines Flight 11 that crashed into the North Tower of WTC and leader of the hijackers, arrived to Las Vegas at 2:41 pm and rented a car at 4:25 pm. At 6:40 pm Atta established an account at Cyberzone internet café and used the computer for one hour and thirty five minutes.
June 29 - Atta checked into Econo Lodge Motel at 1:01 pm. He logged in at Cyberzone again at 2:21 and 6:21 pm. Once done, the FBI believes he went back to his hotel.
June 30 - Atta accessed his Cyberzone accounts at 1:56 pm, 6:30 pm and 9:33 pm. The mileage analysis indicated that he returned to his hotel afterwards. This day as well as the day before, Atta had placed several call to Al-Shehhi as well as to two different number in Houston, TX. One number was unassigned and the other one belonged to a mobile salesman.
July 1 - Atta returned his rented vehicle at the airport at 5:12 am and took a flight to New York that connected in Denver. The vehicle had 73 unaccounted miles of usage which the FBI believes would cover a round trip to the Hoover Dam.
July 31 - Waleed al-Shehri, hijacker of the Flight 11, took a flight from San Francisco to Las Vegas where he stayed for 45 minutes while waiting for another flight to Miami. It is unclear to me whether this was a tactical flight - the hijackers were believed to take flights to study their trajectory as well as entrance to the cockpit-, or just a connection.
August 13 - Hani Hanjour and Nawaf al-Hazmi, pilot and hijackers of the American Airlines Flight 77 that crashed into the Pentagon arrived to Las Vegas at 11:18 am. At 11:58 am, Atta arrived to Las Vegas to and rented a vehicle at 1:46 pm. The FBI assumed that the three men met, but no activity from Hanjour and al-Hazim was recorded from that trip. Atta accessed a room at the Econo Lodge at 2:55 pm and connected at the Cyberzone at 11:26 pm, getting back to his room at 12:46 am.
August 14 - Atta returned his rented car at 11:09 am leaving no unaccounted mileage and took a flight outside Las Vegas. Hanjour and al-Hazmi boarded a flight at 11:29 am.
A) Al-Qaeda was looking to target Las Vegas area
As noted in Atta's first trip, the unaccounted mileage added up to a round trip to the dam from his hotel. However, Atta's vehicle was not among the recorded license plates in the parking garage of the dam. If the hijackers had connections in Las Vegas area, which seems to be the case with Jarrah, Atta might have traveled to Boulder City or any other town close to the lake and gotten to the dam with someone else in a different vehicle. It should also be noted that both Atta and al-Shehhi stayed in hotels close to the Stratosphere, a hotel and casino located in the highest building of the city. Being known as the Sin City, Las Vegas could have been a attractive target for jihadists looking to rebel against what they perceived to be the westernization of their home countries and culture.
B) Hijackers were exchanging information with other Al-Qaeda members
The FBI emphasized the short duration on hijacker's trip to Las Vegas saying that it was just long enough to exchange information. Authorities believe that Atta was not only looking at flight on the East coast but he also kept in communication with Ramzi bin al-Shibh, a potential 20th hijacker who had been denied entry to the United States and acted as an intermediary between Al-Qaeda and the other hijackers. Jarrah's mystery companion and the complete lack of evidence of his whereabouts point to possible terrorist acquaintances residing or staying in Las Vegas that are yet to be identified. The FBI summary mentions two persons of interest: Lotfi Raissi and Zakaria Hassan Ibrahim.
Raissi started attending the Sawyer School of Aviation in 1998 one month after Hanjour quit. Two days after Jarrah left Las Vegas, Raissi arrived to the city with his wife and stayed there until June 18. His stay didn't overlap with that of the hijackers and he claims he went to Las Vegas to celebrate his honeymoon. On September 21, Raissi was arrested near Colnbrook, UK, where he had been living at the time of the attacks. Prosecutor Arvinder Sambei claimed that the FBI had footage of him celebrating an event with Hanjour and that his flight logs from March 2000 to June 2001 were missing. It has also been claimed that Raissi was training five of the hijackers. No such proof was presented to the courts and the man in the footage turned out to be his cousin and not Hanjour, as it had been previously claimed.
Hassan Ibrahim had previously been convicted for trafficking in fraudulent passports and visas. He was the person to provide Mir Aimal Kansi, CIA headquarters shooter , and Mohammed A. Salameh, perpetrator of the 1993 WTC bombing, with fake documents. He was reported to have spent most of July in Las Vegas. Unfortunately, not much information about this individual is accessible so I could not verify if any connection between him and the hijackers was formally established.
C) Hijackers went to Las Vegas as a final pleasure stop before committing suicide
This theory was briefly mentioned by Evan Thomas, journalist, and quoted by criminologist Adam Lankford in his psychological autopsy of Mohamed Atta. According to the author, Atta and the other hijackers - Hanjour and al-Hazmi - might have visited Las Vegas because maybe " they wished to be fortified for their mission by visiting a shrine to American decadence".
While not much is known about Hanjour and al-Hazmi, Atta has been alluded to by the people who knew him as a sexually repressed man who experienced extreme discomfort around women and the mildest hint of sexuality. When years of repression build up an uncontrollable sexual urge, the individual might end up participating is risky sexual activities. Nevertheless, the circumstances of the trip make sex and gambling very unlikely motives. Their stays were short, happened across different months and there was no evidence of them visiting casinos or any similar venues. Strippers supposedly identified al-Shehhi as one of their patrons, but evidence was not conclusive. Furthermore, there is no reason to believe that a quick visit to the strip club was anything more than a fun opportunity while pursuing a bigger goal.
I personally believe that the hijackers visited Las Vegas to coordinate the attacks with other members from Al-Qaeda who flew under the radar (no pun intended).

A guy is walking along the strip in Las Vegas and a knockout looking hooker catches his eye. He strikes up a conversation and eventually asks the hooker, "How much do you charge?" Hooker replies, "It starts at $500 for a hand-job." Guy says, "$500 dollars! For a hand-job! Jesus Christ! No hand-job is v worth that kind of money!" The hooker says, "Do you see that Denny's on the corner?" "Yes." "Do you see the Denny's about a block further down?" "Yes." "And beyond that, do you see that third Denny's?" "Yes." "Well," says the hooker, smiling invitingly, "I own those. And, I own them because I give a hand-job that's worth $500." Guy says, "What the hell? You only live once. I'll give it a try." They retire to a nearby motel. A short time later, the guy is sitting on the bed realizing that he just experienced the hand-job of a lifetime, worth every bit of $500. He is so amazed, he says, "I suppose a blow-job is $1,000?" The hooker replies, "$1,500." "$1,500? My God! No blow-job could be worth that. A televangelist wouldn't pay that for a blow-job!" The hooker replies, "Step over here to the window, big boy. Do you see that casino just across the street? I own that casino outright. And I own it because I give a blow-job that's worth every cent of $1,500." The guy, basking in the afterglow of that terrific hand-job, decides to put off the new car for another year or so, and says, "Sign me up." Ten minutes later, he is sitting on the bed more amazed than before. He can scarcely believe it but he feels he truly got his money's worth. He decides to dip into the retirement savings for one glorious and unforgettable experience. He asks the hooker, "How much for some pussy?" The hooker says, "Come over here to the window, I want to show you something. Do you see how the whole city of Las Vegas is laid out before us, all those beautiful lights, gambling palaces, and showplaces?" "Damn!" the guy says, in awe, "You own the whole city?" "No," the hooker replies, "but I would if I had a pussy."

[All] No one could beat him at arm wrestling

In P6, a contract killer Ike "the Spike" Stadtler was playing dice in his motel room. This was the first time we saw him.
Ike had two dice. He threw them on the table and wrote the numbers in his notebook. Should we write the numbers down too?
First, he got 1 and 4. Then he threw 4 and 5, again writing the numbers down in his notebook.
As he was writing, there was a quick cut to an envelope slipping in under the door. As the scene cut back to Ike, things looked the same but something had changed: the Bulleit Bourbon was gone from his glass. Watching carefully if something else was wrong, the dice had moved and now showed 5 and 2.
So, in the season awash with numbers everywhere - many wishing they had no part to play in the proceedings - we got yet another number sequence: 144552. Coincidentally, also yet again, the sequence could work as a pointer to a moment in another episode. If so, Lynch had kept the actor throwing the dice until he got the first four numbers his painstakingly detailed editing plan required, possibly having several options what he needed to have.
Let's give P14 at 45:52 a look then and see what kind of sense that connection might make.
Right then, there was some Trucker sitting in Elk's Point #9 bar. He was still breathing but a moment later he was lying in his own blood on the floor after The Experiment lurking inside Sarah Palmer had bitten his neck off.
The scene was totally bonkers and very effective, but once again, ultimately it didn't seem to serve the purpose we expected it to have. The Experiment never showed up again, and even if Sarah Palmer was now established as a threat of credible kind, that wasn't used in any way either.
Sure is a mystery. What was going on? And why would Ike need to connect to the Trucker?
An episode earlier in P13, some Renzo, who was running a criminal lair The Farm, was hit hard in the face by Mr C. He had just lost a game of arm wrestling and with that his position as the boss. Mr C didn't seem to like him anyway. He fell dead on the floor, shown lying in his own blood.
This looked quite like what happened to the Trucker, another annoying bully who got finished with a single blow. This connection appeared to be quite revealing. Before the game started, Renzo's right-hand man Muddy promoted the invincibility of his boss.
Muddy: "This man is our boss ... 'cause no one can beat him at arm wrestling."
No one can beat him at arm-wrestling. Earlier, I proposed that Lynch had very experimentally overloaded the indefinite pronoun "no one" with an additional definite meaning of "The Experiment" (sic) so that every time it was used anywhere in the dialog, the sentence had a corresponding meta meaning. That way, we got bits and pieces about what was going on with this strange monster that directly popped up only a few random-looking times, seemingly without a character arch.
Thus then, what Muddy was also telling us would have been that The Experiment can beat Renzo in arm wrestling, paradoxically opposite to what his literal words meant. Since Renzo got beaten in that game a moment later, with Mr C showing supernatural strength, it was implied this Mr C was travelling with The Experiment and it were her powers that ultimately beat and killed Renzo.
Since both the Farm and the Black Lodge were referred to as "that place" and Ray was briefly shown dead on the Lodge floor after Mr C had shot him dead, we got strong hints who Renzo ultimately was in this apparent illusion. Mr C had a plan to avoid getting stuck in the Black Lodge again, and it seems we saw this plan in motion when he entered the Farm, that is, the Black Lodge: he was there to kill the one who ran the place.
Earlier, I proposed that Renzo and Richard were the same character. After Renzo was killed, this powerful character was able to quickly reincarnate but in another likeness and without his earlier position, possibly also having forgotten who he had been, stuck in a dream that he didn't know was just a dream.
Going back to the Trucker, who was also killed by The Experiment and connected to Ike, another point in all that probably was to connect Renzo and Ike and tell us they were the same character.
It seems that there is still more to squeeze out of Ike's dice. The dice that were inconsistent with the cut had numbers 5 and 2. These were the same numbers as in the dice in the Silver Mustang Casino logo. Earlier, I also proposed that Supervisor Burns was the same character as Richard, making him then the same character as Ike as well.
Furthermore, 5 and 2 are together 7, and we'll probably find this same character also in Lucky 7. Eventually all he wanted was to die or change.
